Short cage 8000 or 9000 series derailleurs can clear up to a 46 no problem. You only need the long cage if you run 2x, or if you use an extended range cassette cog.

i hope you never drop a chain with the chain guide on that redalp! and how the hell do you pedal the first bike? the pedals wont clear the arms holding on the front tire!
