Grimwood Added a comment about feature Long-Term Review - Trek Slash+

Yeah, I've heard the same thing about the larger battery. Personally, I wish I was in control more instead of the system reducing the power (only caveat would be that the motor isn't going to burn out). The odd thing on the Slash, is that if you look at the output window (motor and my output), as the motor gets warmer, it still states it's putting out close to 300 w, but I'm putting out less (when this happens, I know I'm pushing more as I'm still trying to keep up with my buddy). On the EXe, at least when...

I experienced something similar with the EXe. Not sure if it was the firmware or the bigger battery, but the the math didn't really add up. I typically got 1000 m out of the EXe battery, and now much more on the Slash+ battery. For reference, the EXe would be close to zero after 1000 m and I'd end a 1400 m ride with the Slash at over 25%. However, I did notice that the power reduction due to heat occured later on the EXe than on the Slash+, so that may be a reason for the increased range on...

Easily the same range, or better, that full powered e bike. However, there are a couple of caveats. Jonny mentions that the power output reduces once the motor reaches a certain temp. In my experience, I can only run at 300 W for about 30 min until there is a noticeable reduction in power output. So if you have short-ish climbs, followed by a decent, you'll likely never notice as the motor has a chance to cool. If you're running something more modest, like 150 to 200 W, then expect >2000 m of climbing. I'm 180 lbs and my Slash+...

Sean, great review. After reading this, I ended up picking up an E2 (high value in my opinion vs other ebikes). When I first got the bike, I put all my favourite parts on it; new brakes, bar, grips, seat post, seat, wheels, tires, and rotors. But looking back, I would have run this bike very close to stock with some minor modifications; DH front tire, insert in the rear, new brake pads, 220 mm rotors, 210 One Up post, different grips, and new saddle. Keep in mind that 99% of my riding is in North Vancouver, so your spec...

Grimwood Added a comment about product review SB165

Thanks Brandon. I figured a 2.5 would fit well just based on what I’ve seen on the SB150. But good to know that a 2.6 would fit in the winter. I’ve seen the 150’s with 2.5 assegai’s mounted and they have no room for flex. Different bike, but I have over 11 mm of clearance on my 2.5 assegai in my Nomad and I still see tire rub in the Whistler bike park. And I don’t get rad like Rude....

Nice review. Looks like a super fun bike. It would suit lots of trails around the PNW perfectly. One question about the tire clearance, does it really have room for a 2.6? Or is it like the SB150, which really only has room for a 2.4.

Great review Jeff. I echo a lot of what you said in the video. Great spec for the price, tires don't really hook up as well as they look, and rear suspension feels like it ends short. Like it's good, it's good, then the end. As I'm sure you know the stock shock is a 210 x 50 mm. I had a 210 x 55 Rock Shox Super Deluxe sitting around and I tossed it on. It was tight getting it in there, but everything clears just fine. Wow, what a difference. Now it doesn't feel like the suspension ends...
