I would have to say that fit is the most important factor. Way more important than price, every shoe fits differently, and chances are there is a great fitting shoe out there in your budget. I agree with T-Dawg. If you have the basics down then clipless is the next step, but if you are super new to mountain biking...

Great review indeed. My riding buddy and I each picked up a 2014 Slash 9 in late fall. They both came with down tube guards too. I am guessing that only the first run models didn't get them. I felt like the review was spot on though.
