I was quite impressed with Minnaar's effort compared to the other riders that left the gate just before and after him. He was 10-20 seconds faster in those horrid conditions.

I think it is important to try it in real world conditions. I honestly don't notice the drag on the trail and the engagement, I agree is terrible, doesn't come into play either (I do have an i9 hub which I think is important - having a low engagement hub would probably result in a poorer experience). I obviously came from a normal drive train before this (XX1) so its not like I don't know what that felt like, and I have swapped bikes with friends on the trails since I've gotten the Taniwha. They agree the way it pedals...

6/7/2016 5:59pm This technology doesn't make you go faster downhill. It doesn't make you less scared of that gap. It doesn't make you take more chances on sketchy terrain (which suspension does btw). All it does is make you less tired going uphill. If you break your neck going uphill... If the XC guy is irritated with the guy on his DH...

Good article, great perspective. I totally agree that there are many people that would love these and there is no reason they should be "blocked". MTB is about having fun, first and foremost. I would love to rent one of these one day and give it a good crack on the local trails.

Hi Leo, The top tube length of the medium is 602mm, which I think is on the longer side for medium sized bikes. I'm 175cm and like my bikes a bit on the longer side. The medium Anakin is maybe slightly shorter than the large Nomad. I was really happy with the medium size Anakin. Cheers

I like my Hope Pro 2's, but the only "issue" I have is the engagement. I was really hoping that the new hubs would be even less angle than they are. My Profile Elite hubs are still the nicest engaging hubs I've ever owned but the Hope build quality is better. And the Hope price is waaaay better

Yeah, Peaking Ridge, and one of my favourites: Whites Bay. That Nelson/Blenheim area is epic! Can't wait to go back there and do some more of those trails. Nearly did Old Ghost Road earlier this year, but 85km by myself sounded a bit daunting. My bucket list would probably mostly consist of NZ trails... but then again, I am comparing with Australia which is way behind when it comes to MTB. Although, Mt Buller Alpine Epic would probably make it onto my list as well just because of the 9km descent at the end

My current bike. The Zerode G27.5. I owned a G1 as well and this was the first time ever that I bought the same brands updated version of a bike I already owned, I love it that much!
