9/13/2021 7:48pm "Acoustic Bikes"? Hard nope there. Can we all just agree that the nomenclature for a normal fully mechanical non-motor assisted bike is a bike and a e-bike is an e-bike.

9/13/2021 7:46pm E bikes are bad for mountain biking. It’s a shame they are used on most of the same trails (for now). At least be honest and have a throttle on it — it’s an overpriced weak moto (and yes all these e bikes can be hacked to go ALOT faster) I can’t think of why a mtb website would review these other than $$$, vital you should be helping out getting these banned on non motorized trails

Tasha Thomas Liked a product review Vital Tested - Pivot Mach 6 Pro XT/XTR Coil

In aerospace definitions, Mach is the ratio of an object’s speed to the speed of sound. Pivot’s Mach 6 absolutely blitzes the trail with a sonic boom, falling somewhere within the hypersonic category of fun. With nothing to hide on smaller 27.5 wheels, the Pivot Mach 6 puts it all out on the table. This bike is not shy about holding a line in unpredictably loose, steep, and challenging terrain. We couldn’t find anything to slow down this rowdy trail-loving, downhill precision missile. It managed to hold decent speed when we slammed it into the occasional teeth-gritting uphill sprint that...

2/26/2020 8:17pm I understand and get it. I appreciate the response. Maybe I am overly reading this, but it seems like your assumption is that people are more likely to size up on the Ripley than other bikes - though the Tallboy was mentioned. Interestingly, I finally had a chance to compare numbers between the Phantom, Ripley, Optic, and Tallboy - all medium size and they are nearly identical in reach when you account and adjust to a similar stack height. For a stack height of 25.1 inches, the reach numbers are 17.2, 17.2, 17.1, 17.4. These are about as close to...

2/24/2020 7:10pm Great review and article! However bummed by the sizing up on the Ripley. It would have been better to leave it out then include it, because it questions the statement about handling, not so much the suspension. A major point of the article - geometry is important - oh wait we sized up on the Ripley - ignore the statement that geometry is important.

@teamrobot isn't wrong. Robots are never wrong. What you are describing however isn't new, nor is it isolated to mountain biking. I have zero idea what the number is but my two cents worth of a guess is 95% of all the shit marketed to dudes never gets used near to its potential nor heritage by which it was produced. Dirt bikes. Mountain bikes. Snowmobiles. UTVs. Fast cars. Powertools. You name it. Most guys buy shit and come nowhere near using it to the degree it was engineered. I remember bumping into a really fast enduro rider before enduro was...

Thanks - interesting! For some reason, I thought RockShox was using the entire stroke for metric shocks to improve their shock operation, where as Fox was just adapting to size, but didn't need the additional length for their operation - hence the extra visible stroke. If neither company is using the entire stroke for metric shocks, I am kind of at a loss for the benefit on metric? Ignoring the Hubble imperial/metric conversion mistakes. I realize this is outside the scope of this article.

Question/comment: I own an SB5v2, which is similar to the Beti. It is important to recognize that the visible stroke on the metric shock is longer than the actually stroke. The actual stroke is about 2/3rd of the visible stroke. You can see in the video above highlighting the suspension that it stops about 2/3rd of the way through the visible stroke. If you set your shock to 30% of the visible stroke, you are setting too much sag. It should be set to 30% of 50mm=15mm. I made this mistake and the bike rides okay, but not great. My...

3/19/2016 7:18am The carbon Warden and Delirium have different purposes and excel at this purposes. The Warden is my all around bike, but for shuttling or aggressive days that still require a pedal to the top, the Delirium is great. The Warden is a long-legged trail bike. The Delirium is a very aggressive AM, freeride bike. The Delirium is a great bike fork folks that don't need a DH bike but ride aggressive trails. Both are very very fun!

3/19/2016 7:13am 160mm Lyrik - feels very good with this length. The Lyrik I think has a longer a2c than the fox, so a fox at 170mm is close to a Lyrik at 160mm. I had a Fox 36 but prefer the Lyrik.

10/10/2015 5:04pm I thought our sport was above this. Riders should be understanding and help new and injured riders. You should be able win on riding, not hogging prime real estate. I was always a big Graham A. fan, he lost one today. He was always seemed like a down to earth, fun loving rider - his winning race record - isn't his appeal. The Claw just says the right things - true ambassador of the sport. There should be a rule that last year's line is open for this year. The work last year was last year, not this year. This...
