DavidG Added a comment about feature Tested: Yoshimura ENDH Stem Kit

If I got my hands on this stem I would actually fabricate an aluminium bar that would attach to the steerer clamp, and provide me with a much accurate alignment. That would be satisfying.

What puzzles me here is why the distance between the clamps gets narrower ar the front. Even if (surprisingly) that turns out to be stiffer than maintaining the same distance, it would LOOK stiffer/ better...

I could deal with a somewhat reduced range and somewhat further apart gears, but 11 teeth minimum is a no-go. Both my current bike and the two previous ones, all had sub-optimal antisquat. This can be counteracted with a smaller chainring, but for that I need small cogs on the cassete, like 9t or 10t at the very least. e*13's 9-42 cassette is appealing to me, or would be if all cogs were made of steel.

Oh yeah... I forgot that besides the CF Pro Race there is only the CF Pro now, but last year there were the CF and the CF Pro. But your bike is the CF, not the CF Pro. The CF Pro was either white/black or all red. The CF was white/red or grey/black.

I run a 2.5 dhf or a 2.6 eliminator on the rear just fine, albeit with carbon rims. The wheels on your bike appear to be the aluminium e*13's, which do come on the CF Pro, but how come this is the colour scheme of a CF Pro Race? I know of no CF Pro with this colour scheme.

DavidG Added a comment about feature Vital MTB How-To: Cockpit Set-Up

Well for me, when choosing bar angle comfort is precisely what dictates the choice, and with Renthal bars for example, especially those with a higher rise, I end up putting them on a more rolled back position. I remember my hands hurting with a Renthal bar I had some years ago, before I rolled them back from a more “normal” position. So even though these bars have a smaller backsweep than most, thanks to the upsweep, the bar elevation itself, and me rolling them back, the hands end up at a similar point as with other bars, which is aligned...

"both the rise and the upsweep will conspire to push the ends of the handlebar too far rearward – you’re riding a mountain bike, not a beach cruiser!" What's that about? I really don't understand. This setup has what seems like a 50mm stem. Some people might want to have the bars a little further back instead of buying a shorter stem. There are 40mm, 30mm stems, even Pace makes special bar/stem combinations that allow a 25mm or even shorter length. One may choose to simply roll the bar back instead. What's wrong with it?

Tristan_Mayor, concerned as you are about sizing charts (and rightfully so), YT's sizing chart does recommend the XL for 6' riders. It's right at the borderline between L and XL, so one may go with one or the other. I may actually provide some personal input on that, because I am 6' and I have ridden both sizes. There is a 2cm difference between sizes. I have ridden the L with a 50mm stem and the XL with a 30mm stem, so the cockpit size remained the same. Both felt very good but the XL provided more attack confidence. Not...

You are really the only person qualified to answer your question. As you would probably have gathered from the article, I'm your height exactly, and I had a great time riding the XL on the trails in Sintra at the launch. Most of these trails are of the fast and rough kind, that generally have you looking ahead and going with the flow. I love the feeling of being able to relax and move around in the cockpit that you get with a longer bike, as well as the extra security when plowing into stuff. Where it sometimes catches me...

I too have had some good times riding in Sintra... even with a 26"-wheeled Jekyll. So maybe I don't need a huge reach to enjoy it. But I get what you say about the extra security, and I think I might go for the XL to see what it's all about. Thanks for the answer!

Optimizing the suspension for a 30t chainring is a plain mistake in my view. Looking at the transmissions they are offering with the bike, with Eagle the lowest gear (50-30) is equivalent to a 37t cog with a 22t chainring (37-22). Nobody needs a gear this light, especially considering that the heaviest gear with the 11-46 Shimano cassete will be a ridiculous 11-30, which is only good for the tightest singletrack, or maybe not even that. And while a chainring could be changed, they are extending this compromise to the frame. Seems like an excessively conservative move, fitting to a...

It bobs because the pivot is too low. It could be a little higher for a 30t chainring, for which it supposedely was idealized. But the problem is, 30t chainrings?? For both SRAM Eagle and Shimano 11-46 cassettes there is no need of such a small chainring. I run a 34t with a 9-42 cassette, so for those I would run a 38t at least. Which would make it bob even more because the chainline would be higher above the rear suspension pivot, compressing the shock with each pedal stroke. Besides, it's better for the pivot to be above the...
