Cyclotoine Added a comment about feature First Look - Rapha Performance Trailwear MTB Line
6/4/2021 1:05pm How did you find the length of the shorts? The photos on the Rapha site make me thing they're a tad on the short side. I paid a premium for 7mesh shorts a couple years ago and was underwhelmed with they way they are cut, I was expecting Rapha level tailoring since I was paying Rapha level prices and that was not the case. In my experience with Rapha road clothing, everything is pro fit (small) and while I'm usually a large I'd consider sizing up to XL in road tops. I have to wonder it that might be the...

3/18/2021 7:00pm Glad to hear the grip is improved. My experience with last years sole was very disappointing. Had to sell them and order new 5.10s because I missed the grip too much

Cyclotoine Added a comment about press release The Bike You've Been Asking For - Privateer's 141
9/7/2020 11:28pm How tall are you. I’m between 6’3” and 6’4” and ridding an XXL sentinel alloy. Transition sizing suggests I’m squarely on XL. I’d be curious to ride an XL, I know a guy my height who rides a large sentinel so go figure. This bike is only 5mm shorter than my bike so I think I could live with it for the things is has that I want. Longer chainstays, steeper seat tube, more progressive leverage curve. But I’m afraid that the full 27mm shorter top tube would feel cramped climbing. The last time I owned bikes that short in...

Cyclotoine Added a comment about press release Commencal Launches New Meta TR 29 2021
6/15/2020 11:37am Looks like a sentinel. Would like it if they published actual seat angle at a reasonable saddle height for each frame size. The actual seat tube still looks pretty slack so what appears to be quite steep at first pass probably isn’t for tall riders.

Cyclotoine Added a comment about press release Evil Bikes Releases New Following
3/13/2020 11:41am Effectively slack XL seat tube angle = not worth even reading about it. Evil continues to be a short person bike.

Cyclotoine Added a comment about product review Sight
3/10/2020 9:45am This is generally true of "progressive geo", the sight promises to be more balanced. I'm very curious to ride one. I'm on a XXL transition sentinel with similar reach and head tube angle, but I think the longer rear center and steeper seat tube will make the sight out climb the sentinel and feel even more stable descending (if that's even possible!?). The first ride on the sentinel felt weird, it wanted me to be forward. Second ride a little less weird. Third ride I was on sighting lines I would have needed to roll up to three or four...

Cyclotoine Added a comment about press release KC Dean Explores the Trails of Fairbanks, Alaska
1/28/2020 1:37pm Definitely just you're opinion. Not to be the guy that's been riding mountain bikes for 30 years or anything. Not sure I see the problem with highlighting the location with some just generally pretty good riding, but I see now you hold some predetermined distaste for the rider.

1/28/2020 1:08pm @boaz You're right this professional athlete sucks at riding. When is your edit going live so we can see what good riding is?

1/28/2020 10:43am I live North of 60 and I can appreciate that he is absolutely flying on these trails. My home trails are similar super fast and flowy and most riders don't see the opportunities for extra air because you have to be absolutely wide open. His bike choice is perfect. To scrub some of those bumps like he does you have to be absolutely railing it. It's impressive riding, but I can see how to the untrained eye used to seeing big feature and gnar it is not obvious.

Cyclotoine Added a comment about press release Cotic Launches 2020 FlareMAX 29er Trail Bike
12/3/2019 4:59pm The actual does look steep compared to many brands with a more aggressive kink in the seat tube, but that is usually a result of the lower seat tube ending in front of the bottom bracket. Here the lower tube extends directly from the BB with just a slight kink. I would love to see no kink or at least shrinking kinks on the larger sizes (size specific seat tubes for the win). The massive effective top tube numbers combined with "on trend" reach numbers tell you that the seat tube actually is pretty slack. Compare it to a transition...

12/3/2019 11:23am Slack seat tube and short reach.... they say the competition hasn't caught up, but it seems they are being left behind.

5/16/2019 7:35am That rear suspension design appeals to my inner enginerd. I love the way it's designed and tucked low without exposing the shock to dirt.

Cyclotoine Added a comment about video Straight up Staffordshire Shreddin' with Ratboy and Sam Cofano
4/24/2019 3:23pm
While I recognize that part of how these guys get so good is constantly finding new lines and riding the crap out of them I can't help but wonder.... they always appear to be riding these short gully tracks and literally riding where there was no trail before and ripping up dirt and disturbing the soil. From an environmental perspective, this is as bad or worse than what motorized vehicles do. It opens up new erosion pathways tears up the fragile organic matter. I'm not saying that is what they are doing, but that is what it looks like and...
