You are correct. This bike has identity crisis. So you have XC bike - Epic, then company (Specialized) put bigger shock on it and fork, tires and all other, and make it downcountry i.e. heavier on climbs. Than on top of that this guy took Fox 36, piggyback shock, heavy tires and put them on XC bike. So what is a point, just buy a Stumpjumper and call it good with proper frame and geo for that kind of riding.

I have those kind of guys on my work (banking business) who have shit load...
