did anyone fit a 65 stroke shock with a 27.5 rear wheel on the new offering ?
i upstroked an evil calling from a 50 to a 55 mm stroke in the past - had no issues with the piggyback clearance @ bottomout
could also fit a ttx style reservoir shock so i dont forsee any issues from the shock/frame side
with the 65 stroke wheel travel should increase by 12-14 mm , outer radius of a 27.5 is about 19mm shorter then a 29er .... in theory shold work
It the geo looks quite nice when you plug it into the calculator at https://www.bike-stats.de/en/geometrie_rechner with either the 160 or 170 fork setup. If the clearances check out, that could potentially be pretty sweet.
Id be willing to bet a new insurgent is probably close to being released. OR, its a wreckoning with a wheel size flip chip.
i love that calculator ....
I ran so many versions trying to decide on new frame
i love Evil's , but after riding a longer chainstay bike for few years i dont want to go back
a 440/445 CS on an insurgent would be my dream bike
I just got done riding 5 days in Colorado with my v4 offering. I personally think the bike rides perfect with the 29” rear wheel. I rode plenty of trails that were at the absolute limit of my skill level and I never once felt like I would have benefited from a 27.5” rear wheel. I was keeping up with, and in some cases faster, than a few locals I rode with that were on SB165s with full push suspension. I rode my previous frame as a mullet and purposely kept the mullet wheelset to try it on the offering at some point, but now I don’t think there’s any reason to. If you want a Mullet Evil I would wait until next year. I think a new Insurgent and/or wreckoning is on the horizon, along with a new Following.
