Finally got my hands on some locked-in bar ends and am excited to install and test them out. None of my current grips have removable bar ends though, so i will need to make some permanent modifications to them. Figured itd be smart to ask on here before I start taking a knife to my grips.

So, has anyone modified their grips to fit these Locked-in bar ends? Have any tips, tricks, or things I should avoid doing when modifying my grips? Are there specific brands or models that might work better w/ these fancy bar ends? I currently own ODI, Oneup, Specialized and bontrager grips.

I used a dremel with a small sanding attachment with light touch to remove the outer edge on ergon gdh fat grips.

I took an old set of cheap bars and a rubber mallet to the grips, hitting around the outside edge of the grip with the mallet (not hitting the bar into the grip with the grip on the ground). The core broke right out relatively quickly on both a set of RaceFace Chester and OneUp Components Goldstone grips.

dang i might have to retire one of my old bars and give that a try. sounds like the cleanest solution.

Unless your bars are carbon, there's no need to use an old bar. Especially with a rubber mallet.

I smashed a screwdriver through the bottom of the grip on a piece of wood, moved it around, kept smashing, and removed the plastic inner housing on the edges then used an xacto blade to trim the rubber.
