GRACEY HEMSTREET’S PROJECT 17: A PLATFORM FOR FEMALE RIDERS TO TAKE ON BIGGER TERRAIN

Three-time Downhill World Cup winner and two-time Red Bull Hardline champion Gracey Hemstreet is leading Project 17, a new female-only invitational progression event designed to help the next generation of female downhill riders take on bigger terrain, build confidence, and progress toward the highest levels of the sport.

Hosted at Coast Gravity Park in British Columbia, Project 17 will bring together a select group of female riders including newly crowned Junior Downhill World Champion Tilly Boadle and World Cup racer and Red Bull Hardline competitors Mille Johnset & Jess Blewitt, alongside a select field of emerging and established female downhill athletes from around the world.

At the heart of the event is a purpose-built progression line, designed specifically to introduce riders to the scale, speed and technical challenges associated with the world's biggest downhill courses — while providing a supportive and controlled environment in which to learn, develop and push their limits.

With events such as Red Bull Hardline continuing to represent the pinnacle of progression and technical challenge in downhill mountain biking, Project 17 aims to help bridge the gap between the opportunities currently available to female riders and the demands of competing on the world's biggest courses.

The course build is being supported by Red Bull, helping create a purpose-built environment designed specifically around rider progression. Norco, as Hemstreet's DH team partner, is also supporting Project 17 as the event brings together athletes and industry partners committed to creating greater opportunities for women in downhill.

Project 17 is built on a simple idea: riders progress when they're given access to the right terrain, experienced people around them, and the confidence to take the next step. Success for Project 17 won't simply be measured by what riders achieve on the course. The goal is for riders to leave the event stronger, more connected and more capable of taking the next step toward the highest level of the sport.
