Total noob question here — I've never changed a chainring on any bike, let alone an e-bike. I have a 2025 Transition Regulator SX that's due for a new chainring, (i think) I've got the correct replacement chainring.
Before I dive in, I want to make sure I understand the specifics of the Bosch Performance Line SX setup so I don't mess anything up. I couldn't find any Regulator-specific videos or guides, so I'm hoping someone here can fill me in. I did email Transition directly but they wont be able to get back to me until monday, apparently they are on a company outing of some sort. I wanna go for a rip this weekend so im hoping to have this completed long before monday haha.
My main questions:
- Reverse threads? I know some e-bike motors use reverse-threaded parts — what's the deal with the SX?
- Process? Any specific disassembly/reassembly order I should follow?
- Spacers/gaskets? Are there any spacers, O-rings, or gaskets I need to watch for (and not lose)?
- Chainline? How do I verify I got the chainline right when reinstalling? Any room for error here?
- Tool specifics? Any special tools beyond the Bosch lockring tool and 8mm Allen?
- What else? What am I not thinking to ask?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer!
This should have all the info you need (even if you're using a different brand cranks or chainring, you can see the diagrams and torque values):

Already???what are you using for chainlube?
huh?
The bike i got was a demo so it had a solid season of riding on it before i got it haha.
cheers i will take a peek at those right now
Man, years ago I bought a factory demo Sentinel. That thing was hammered... fork bottom out bumpers were lodged in the stanchions. Rear hub nearly seized. Codes in desperate need of bleed. Their demo bikes get put through the ringer.
Haha this one deffs saw a full season, perhaps a bit more use than i was able to see when i purchased it. BUT the bike shop i got it from is world class in terms of customer service, and any issues i spotted were fixed at no cost - so i cant complain! Haha they ended up replacing the entire fork CSU after a stanchion scratch was discovered between the stanchion and the fork arch, rebuilt the headset w/ new bearings, updated the motor mounts and a few other things.
