I know it's not ideal to have your cell phone on your bars in the woods, but I find myself during rides wanting it. So my question is: can you recommend a good mount that will stand up to the abuse of the mountain?

I only ride XC and trail for a fun exercise. Since I am riding slower and nothing too difficult I think a mount will work for my type of riding. Thoughts?

What did you end up choosing?

I do the same for trails and XC rides, mainly for quick access to maps and tracking apps. I’ve been using a rugged mount that clamps really solid to the bars and hasn’t budged even on bumpy sections, and I’d definitely recommend pairing it with a tough phone like the UleFone models (they’re super durable and can take knocks way better than most). As long as you make sure it’s tightened well and maybe use a bit of extra vibration‑damping tape under the mount, it should stay put for the kind of riding you’re talking about.

The vibration from a phone mount is a great way to kill the image stabilization hardware in a phone.
