Fox Defend Fire Pants vs Flexair Pro Fire Alpha Pants?

Pants/trousers, y’all know what I mean. Anyone had any experience with either pant? Not sure which one to go for. Looking for something that keeps me warmer on the lift in winter, can ride uphill in and not end up a boiled frog, won’t shred first time they hit the ground.

I bought the Defend Fire pants last year and liked them a lot. Never really overheated and if I did start to, I would remove some top layers.

They fit great over knee pads, but I will say getting your feet through the holes can be tricky/tough.

I’ve heard good things about the Endura MT500 line, so that might be another option.

FWIW - I live in the Pacific Northwest, so the pants have seen rain, snow and cold weather.

I picked up a pair of the Fox Defend Fire pants and love them! Keeps me warm and dry with better water repellency than I expected. Once on they're really comfy and don't collect any unwanted moisture. You've got room to move on the way up or down. I wish there was an easy way to put your pads on after the climb but you'll have to put them on before the ride - wish there were some side-openings to make this process easier. Also wish they were a bit slimmer fitting but it's maybe for the best so you have room for bulkier armour for park days. Seem to be durable both in and out of the wash. Look pretty cool too. I live in BC and the shore, Squamish, Whistler and valley trails are my go tos - these pants have yet to let me down.

I have the flexair pant and they are my favourite riding gear I own. Somehow lighter and more comfortable than shorts. Not really that breathable, I use them in cooler conditions mostly. Only negative is the ankle is very tight and above the knee is baggy. No issues wearing thinner kneepads underneath. I downsized for mine after trying both a 32 and 30 inch (I'm a 31 in Levi's), went for 30.

Edit: I am talking about the non "fire" version. Not sure how big a difference there is between versions.

What did you end up buying? I went with the Flexair Pro Fire Alpha Pants after comparing both. They felt lighter and better for climbing while still warm enough for cold lift rides. The Defend Fire pants are great for super cold days, but a bit heavy and warm if you’re pedaling a lot. The Flexairs ended up on my catalog favorites list because they hit that perfect middle ground: good insulation, breathable, and comfy fit without overheating. Curious to hear what you chose.
