Does anyone have specific knowledge of which of these is a better bike for Windrock?
Is either prone to failure (220 lbs with pads-hucker)?
Is either one more fun?
I'm also looking at a Commencal FRS lightly-used, base build.
No experience with either but Propain US support is SLOW as Fuck and spare parts are hard to get a hold of.
Thank you! That's at least SOME info!
Kind of hard to believe that no one has an opinion on the Polygon, since the build is such a good value!
Friend rides a Spindrift, opposite experience. He dropped by Vancouver HQ and they hooked him up with extra pivot hardware for his trip north. Their custom build program is pretty unique and their pricing is very competitive. I haven’t seen many Polygons in general. I think the big thing is, does the bike complement your ride style.
It appears that US operations doesn't keep spares in stock.
When I broke one of the pivot bolts on my hugene, it took me a week to get in touch with customer care and would have taken another week but I dug up the VP of Propain USA's email and contacted him directly. It would have taken another week to get a return call from customer service.
After I got set up with a rep, i had the replacement part in 24 hours. The rep was great once we connected. I asked if I could purchase spares of all of the suspension hardware. They sent me spares for free, but it took 6 months to get all of the pieces.
The bike is great, service was good but slow.
I bought a Norco Shore A (Boxxer version). It's a good build for the price $3999, though not as good as the Polygon, admittedly, at thousand more. A local shop (bear paw bikes) carries Norco, so it'll be nice to have some support for any parts / repairs. I already drop my cross country and dirt jumper there for all my repairs, and the staff are excellent.
It will be great to be sending some of the bigger stuff on a new DH, with dual-crown fork, beefier cranks, downhill hub, and a high-pivot (my first). I'll report back after I have some time on this bike.
The shore is an amazing bike, you'll love it.
