Manitou Dorado 37 Comp Coil Springs

Hello!

Does someone have a manitou dorado 37mm coil spring and knows the length and outer diameter of the spring itself? Can't find any info online other than the spring rates.

Maybe someone can help out.

Why don’t you contact Manitou directly and ask them for some info?

I can only tell you what spring you could use to coil-convert a Dorado 36 - it’s the spring from a RS Boxxer with 35mm stantions, and it needs to be custom-cut to a shorter length as it’s a little bit long. Also it tends to feel harder than in a Boxxer - what i mean is, if you have a SOFT Boxxer spring, in the Dorado it will be suitable for someone between 90 and 100kg. An EXTRASOFT Boxxer spring would be suitable for a 75-90kg rider. Speaking from expirience! Wink

damn really? thats insane hahahaha i am working on that also! i thought about that but kinda worried about cutting the spring. is there still enough stroke between the coil wire to get full travel? did you use a custom piston or just the air piston for extra force?

Sorry, can’t exactly explain it - received the fork this way, already coil-converted. There was some custom piston inside, but can’t really explain it - i found it too hard for me, friend of mine who’s a pro mechanic told me the spring is a Boxxer Soft one upon servicing it, and said all i need to soften it is an Xsoft spring and he’ll do the cutting - he measured by how much. Did so, great results! But the fork is long gone sold - think it went to Germany. I’m now with a Dorado 36 2020 with the original air spring, with the MRD upgrade. Superb performance, not a pro rider so i guess i won’t feel a great difference with a Dorado 37.
Btw, why do you need spring rates in the first place?

Just buy a Dorado coilspring. You can get it from X. Soft to XX. Firm. $45.
