MTB/Hunting holiday in the USA

Looking at coming over to America for a biking and hunting holiday in September. My preferred destinations are either Colorado or Montana as they both cater for the activities I enjoy and they both have vast expanses of wilderness. Not really a fan of bikeparks and prefer biking in the back and beyond.
What are other people's recommendations for locations for my holiday?

Durango and Crested Butte Colorado have plenty of scenic backcountry riding (and a good bike park at each location).

Just be aware the altitude is high- lots of riding above 10,000 ft. Also late September might get snow.

Is waterfowl open in Montana that time of year? Imagine there are plenty of good spaces for that with good trails in proximity.

Thanks for the recommendation. The waterfowl season opens in early October in Montana. I should have been more specific in my post. I'm wanting to do a guided archery elk/deer hunt.
