Gear Advice.... Please

What up guys, I'm still pretty new to mountain biking and everything and am looking to buy new gear. I'm posting this because I want to hear a ton of different opinions of what gear to look for a what gear to stay away from. I am curious to see what everyone likes and what products are good. I don't want to buy products that aren't very good. EVERYONE should post on this. Thanks guys. Looking forward to hearing back. Peace.
