Hi,

a recently bought a new bike and it seems that i messed up the thread of the left arm in my crank set , as the bike is new I am not willing to buy the same crankset so I have two possible solutions:

- send the crank arm to a turner in order to replace the thread
- buy a lower quality crankset an just replace the arm ( i have a shimano MT600 and looking to replace the arm with the one on a mt500 crank set).

Thanks a lot for your help

Do you mean the pedal thread?
A good bike shop should be able to fit a heli coil in to save your current crank.

Then next time pay more attention to which pedal you're fitting, and which way the thread goes.

There is a chance if you bought a new bike from a shop it has a one year parts warranty.

Left hand arm = left hand thread = no helicoil option

Ah, sure.
Well, the one year parts warranty is a start, not sure that it'll cover operator error.
Otherwise the OPs idea to replace the arm is fast and cheap.

Left hand heli coils do indeed exist. I've installed one myself some years ago. A good bike shop should have them.

If the damage is minor, a shop may be able to chase the thread.
