New ripper needs used bike HALP

So I am brand new to MTB, I own a 2013 airborne Goblin 29er hardtail that I use as transportation during Moto events but never did any real biking until last weekend some friends took me out on a full suspension |all mountain| that we ripped some single trail with in the mountains, needless to say I'm in.

I know motorcycles, I have an obsession with motorcycles, and I know what I'm doing. But I don't know MTB and that scares me when jumping into this.

My question is I found a what looks to be a showroom quality 2017 Diamondback Mission 2 for sale fairly local and he is asking $1600, I plan to pay $1500 and maybe less depending on haggle room but before I show does it sound like a fair deal? I am a monster and it is an XL which I know is a smaller buyer/seller pool and I don't want to buy new on round one.

I see where there bike was $4200 msrp when it was new but I have seen some comments on the interwebs about people having paid $1700 for them new just a year after release. Does anyone have some insight? It has been listed for quite some time so I suspect it is not a "great" deal.

Bike looks good. I think $1500 is a great deal for the parts that I'm seeing on the photo.

Thank you for being the first person to reply with some actual sense. I posted this on a facebook forum and EVERYONE told me to run away as it was a diamondback and that they have horrible resale. I tried to debate that the components were very good for the price point and everyone could only tell me that Diamondback was junk and to go buy a brand new Giant for $2300 with far lower tier equipment.

I did end up purchasing this bike as well, I paid $1200 for it and spent the weekend in Big Bear with a lift pass and had a ball! Definingly a solid bike.,

Great deal for your first bike. Ride the thing for a year or two and see if you need anything better.
I too come from the moto world and I've found MTB to be a great new frontier. Still lots to learn!
