What I'm interested to see is if the off-road moto community will try and claim back some trails if they ride an Alta as that electric motor is getting pretty comparable to a combustion bike. I understand there are huge differences between the Alta and an electric bicycle but I feel it can be an opening to the discussion. I talked to some folks promoting electric bikes and asked about trail use to which they explained the rules around my area. I then asked their opinion on the Alta bike and they had no idea what it was.
I looked at the Alta web page....
what's the point comparing this bikes (it's not a mtb!, not a pedal bike) to mtb ebike ?
Alta motobike has ~145 times more power ! (45-50KM vs 0.36KM on ebike)
on ebike you need to pedal to move forward (if gravitation doesn't help you) and motor won't help you past 25km/h
If i could travel twice as far with the same amount of physical exertion as a normal mtb without sacrificing anything on the downhills? when that's possible, I will buy an eMTB.

I'm not trying to compare the bikes but more the land use debate. The off-road folks whose favorite trails were closed to dirt bikes may try and find an argument to re-open them to electric dirt bikes if e-mountain bikes are also allowed on the same trails. I know it's a stretch but the moto community may have more leverage than before if they're riding electric bikes as well.
Fun as. We don't have the misunderstanding of the tech or potential trail access issues as you guys in USA but if you've ridden one I don't see how you could not like it.
Twice as many downs in the same amount of time. It's about fun right?

Sure, i understand.
but for me, there is a clear difference between ebike (still not too heavy - comparing to emoto, you still need to pedal, motor has about 250-350W, not 35kW ! ) and emoto (ktm efreeride, Atla etc.)
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.

Want the same workout? Just pedal faster!
