I kind of don't even know what to say about this other than check out those mod bikes with seats, Ot Pi's unibrow, the grandstands that were packed with fans, and how damn crazy those sections were considering those bikes were basically junk compared to what even a modest trials bike would be today.
Somewhere I have a VHS of "Super Rider IV" which was a Japanese gameshow for trials riders, think MXC with bikes. I think Ot Pi and Cesar Canas are in it, and some amazing little groms riding some seriously treacherous sections. If I even had a VCR I would post it up here!
My Monty mod bike was the biggest POS, I think it was made in the same Taiwan factory as Huffy. It had a thin hi-tensile steel frame, birdsh!t welds and a crap chrome finish.
I had a GT Team Trials from about 1997. I had nothing but problems with the damn Magura HS-11 brakes. Always hit my foot on the cable broke it. I finally sold it about 2 years ago to HackSaw.
