It looks like my Kalula with that straight top tube...where did you get the photo?

It is the ultimate Mini DH. I hope to bring it out to Sea Otter for people to check out. Yes, the bike in the photo was a DH prototype for the Makulu in 2008.

I would love to review the Kalula but being the fact I work for the company people would think I am biased. Sooooo....I am trying to get as many people on a Morewood as possible this year for people to find out for themselves.

@ MTB R&D... will you guys have some derailleur hangers with you at otter, because they love snapping off my bike, and I don't have any more spares.

Thanks,
Shawn Eason

That proto bike looks much nicer than the Kalula

The toptube on the proto-bike is nice and straight, but the toptube on the Kalula gets a bit fatter towards the end

I prefer the proto-bike any day of the week

Is there a way of buying one?

@ spankthewan - Is the hanger for a Ndiza? Which bike do you have?

@smartiboo

How do you figure that Kalula is not as nice? Built by the same hands...

Sorry I can't sell prototypes from a couple of years ago. With a handbuilt company I imagine that there is always a reason why something off a prototype didn't make it to production. In this case Morewood has added a hydroformed top tube to both the Kalula and the Makulu...stronger, more welding area, etc.

The prototype was waaaaaay nicer, man.

All you had to do to make the front end stronger, was add that extra layer of metal, like the Last Herb frame has at the front end. I'm sure there's a technical term for it, but I don't know what it is. It's like a coat of metal that fits snugly over the whole junction there at the toptube, and is welded right into position, adding strength.

LOL, the technical term would be a "gusset". Is that all we had to do? Add a gusset and create a new stress riser? I would love to hear your description of a stress riser...

Cool, let me see what I can come up with. I will be in a booth that backs to the Pump Track and Dual Stunt.

Thanks so much. ...good to know I won't have to run chainless if something goes awry.
