Sent this out on VitalBMX, so ignore to 20" comments and just know that these are FR/DH-ish/DJ trails built for mtb's.

For the riders in or around Kansas City. Not sure if any of the riders from PV skatepark are on here.
There is a small group of KC local mountain bikers that have been planning, designing and building legal Freeride mountain bike trails that are free and open to the public.
What does that mean to the common every day 20" rider?
It means that there are now public dirt jump trails in Kansas City.
They are volunteer designed, built, and maintained by the local trails association (ERTA). That means we need help building and maintaining these trails. They are what we make them and right now, they are fun, but could use some work to maintain flow and speed.
See FreerideLounge.com's forums for pictures and more information. Currently we have two projects in progress.
The first is called "The Ish" (ask me sometime while on the trail) and is open for riding. It's located at Landahl Park in Blue Springs, MO. This is a one way DH style trail built for 26" bikes, but a 20" will do just fine out there. There are lines for the intermediate rider and the more advanced rider. This trail will grow as we as riders grow in our skill level. It's still under construction but we have a fun section open for riding.
The second is a larger scale project that requires more construction than dirt work. This is the SMP Freeride Area and if you have no idea what Freeride mountian biking is about, do a quick google search or check out pinkbike.com. This area will consist of and intermediate line (initial loop is under construction) and an expert line. The intermediate line will have dirtjumps, wooden and dirt berms, rollers, ladder bridges, drops, skinnies, and other fun features. The expert line will have all those features with a more advanced technical twist along with added height and larger gaps (creek gaps, north shore style jumps, wall rides, etc). This will take a lot of time, a significant amount of donations, and a huge volunteer effort to complete. This will all be withing Shawnee Mission Park in Lenexa, KS.
Like I said, we will need all the help we can get. If you are in the area and are interested in helping out, contact me on here, freeridelounge.com, or earthriders.com (same name) and we'll get you going. Note: If you are under 18, you'll need a parent to come sign a waiver before performing trail work with ERTA. Riding is at your own risk.
We have a trail day for the Ish at Landahl tomorrow, Dec 4th, 2010 at 9AM. Details are on FreerideLounge forums and Earthriders.com and earnyourdirt.org.
