Red Bull Foxhunt 2016 Course Preview with Rachel Atherton
The world’s only all-female downhill mountain bike event will take place in the picturesque surroundings of the Eden Valley, Cumbria, for the first time as Red Bull Foxhunt with Jeep returns this weekend.
Following her ‘perfect season’, the downhill mountain bike world champion Rachel Atherton will welcome more than 230 female riders to the new race location, as anticipation builds ahead of the chase. Entries for Red Bull Foxhunt 2016 sold out in less than 8 hours, with double the number of female riders set to take part in a new, even more challenging downhill course for 2016.
The chase will commence on top of Melmerby Scar at an elevation of 596m, taking in stunning views of the surrounding countryside. Set over 2.07km, the race will start on the open terrain above the scar, and descend over rolling hills as the riders are funneled into a tighter course layout with sweeping berms through the bracken before a final jump section and pedal to the finish.
Speaking about the new race location, and Red Bull Foxhunt 2016 course, Rachel said:
“This new course is in a gorgeous location and it’s set to challenge the racers with some technical features - including switchbacks, some steep and rocky terrain, and multiple line choices for maximum over-taking! I can’t wait.”
