The descent from Esk Hause to Stockley Bridge via Sprinkling and Styhead Tarns is quite simply one of the best in the Lake District. Dropping 500 metres over 3 miles, it provides the sublime combination of gradient and features, with brilliant flowing sections, brutal rock gardens, steps, technical slabs, rocky outcrops and everything else in between. As a finale to a big Lakes loop it’s hard to beat, and on a perfect bluebird day like this it’s easy to see why we keep coming back again and again...
