The Cascadia started with a conversation two years ago with a rider in Bellingham. She loved our hip packs but couldn't make them work for her. Her small bike frame didn't leave room for a water bottle cage, and she needed more water than our existing packs could carry. For years, we'd resisted making a hydration hip pack. Every one we'd tried suffered from the same problem: once you added a liter and a half of water, they simply didn't carry very well. They bounced, sagged, shifted, or put too much pressure on your waist.
So we set out to solve it.
After two years of development, countless prototypes, and over a year of testing, we're finally ready to introduce the Cascadia: the first High Above pack designed around a 1.5L hydration bladder from day one. More importantly, it's the first hydration hip pack we've ever been excited to put our name on.
We've truly cracked a pack we're comfortable wearing all day, on the longest rides and roughest terrain, and we're excited to share it with the world.
The key to how well the pack carries is a stiffer back panel and larger, foam infused wings (a design paradigm we took from backpacking packs), which allow the pack to disperse the heavier load of a liter and a half of water without putting too much pressure on the waist strap. A specially designed pocket for the bladder holds it close to the foam back panel, ensuring minimal sloshing and keeping the weight close to the rider for a comfortable carry.

The Cascadia also borrows several rider-favorite details from the Supernatural, including an integrated bungee carry system for jackets and pads, intuitive internal organization, and our signature high-visibility orange accents. Inside, you'll find a large zippered pocket with a key clip and two reinforced stretch pockets for tools, snacks, and ride essentials.

The new Cascadia is also the first pack to feature our new proprietary M200 Molecular fabric, a woven blend of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and nylon. Initial testing shows the fabric is roughly 40% lighter and four times as abrasion resistant than the 400D nylon pack cloth we've used for years. It also looks beautiful, if you’re into that.

We’ve also upgraded the buckles on this pack to a magnetic closure from Cinch Designs. We’re the first major pack brand to feature one of their buckles. Compared to previous magnetic buckle designs we’ve used, we’ve found them more durable, intuitive, and easier to use with gloves on. The waist strap features the same side pulls as the Venture3D, which have proven more intuitive and popular than our previous designs.

The result is a hydration hip pack that carries more water, rides more comfortably, and disappears beneath you on the trail. We believe it's the most refined pack we've ever built. A hydration hip pack that carries the water you need without sacrificing the ride quality that made us fall in love with hip packs in the first place.
