Press Release

SRAM Young Guns DH Team

Young and hungry, this team is run by Patrick Neukirchen as a true labor of love.

It all started with the idea of supporting new blood, which now continues in its 8th year. In partnership with the legendary four red letters, we head to our second World Cup season. We have seen many exiting years, it was not always an easy ride, but we gained with all our experiences.

First up the new SRAM Young Guns Team Riders:

As Felix decided to concentrate more on his school graduation, we have been in the search of new and promising talents, who can meet our high demands. Very soon we discovered two extraordinary riders. We have already been in contact with these athletes, for some time, shared good times and saw them delivering top results.

With this said, we are very proud to announce Paula Zibasa and Moritz Ribarich as latest addition to the SRAM Young Guns Team. This was not an easy one, as multiple other World Cup teams have queued up for Paula and Moritz signing with them. So, we are even more stoked to see our concept being well accepted and holding its own against top-level competitors.

Moritz looks back on a brilliant season with being the only German speaking athlete in the top 5 Junior World Cup. Moritz achieved in his last U19 Year a constant 4th position in the most recent races in Andorra, Lenzerheide and Val Di Sole. At the end of the season he missed the overall podium just by a hair. Furthermore, Moritz scored the National U17 / U19 Championship 4 times and looks forward to achieving the same in his upcoming elite class debut year. Along with Till Ulmschneider, Moritz will move up into the elite class this year and both are set to give everything to earn the World Cup qualification in their debut year. Neither of them is concerned about the new Top 60 rule. Unfortunately Mortiz won’t be able to take part at most of the races because of his shoulder injury. The whole team wishes Moritz a fast recovery and a good comeback!

Finally, we also managed to add a very kind and super talented lady to our team. We already know Paula Zibasa from many years in the EDC. After her first and very successful year in the World Cup, it was the time to get her under the SRAM Young Guns umbrella. After a small break, Paula came back out of the blue and raced straight to the top podium in Leogang. She positioned 1st in the Leogang and Lenzerheide World Cup races and after a small crash, Paula still went 2nd in Val Di Sole. How cool is that lady? Despite all the success, Paula is still totally down to earth and a guarantee for great company. Along with the Innsbruck Bikepark, she also dedicates a lot of her time to support young and upcoming riders and accompanies a bunch of bike camps. Maybe you will meet the Team there as well ;-)

Of course, Till Ulmschneider will remain in the SRAM Young Guns Team. He is the rider with the longest history in the Team and takes over a managing position at some events. Till and Moritz are working hard over the winter season to attack the elite class this summer and look forward to this new challenge. We are confident in their targets!

After his superb first year in the SRAM Young Guns Team and the World Cup circus, Simon Maurer is about to finish his last year in the U19 class. His declared aim is to finish all upcoming junior races with a Top-Ten position and qualify for the World Cup in Lenzerheide.

Last but not least, two of the most exciting and upcoming young talents, the brothers Luis and Heri Kiefer, are completing the Team. Luis will attack the GDC and EDC in the U17 class and looks forward to learn as much as possible from his Team and class mates Paula, Moritz, Till and Simon. We are dead certain that Luis' skills will make a major step up this year.

Henry will also move up in the next class, but he has to stick with the RDC for the next two years. He is pretty much on fire to continue his success also in the U15 class. On top of this we will get Hurricane Henry occasionally in our pre-starts to help him gain as much race experience as possible.

The 2018 SRAM Young Guns Team is complete and ready to rumble. We are more than excited about our DREAM TEAM!

But who is standing behind the curtain, who helped us to achieve the incredible success last year and who will give us support this year?

We are proud to be still part of the SRAM, RockShox and Truvativ athlete program and receive the best possible parts of the Downhill sport.

Canyon was also satisfied with our work and gives us their again confidence for the upcoming season. With SRAM and Canyon we are more than happy to have two brands behind our back with the biggest understanding of supporting young athletes.

DT Swiss started their support last year and became good friends, so it is obvious to continue the relation.

Maxxis are our longtime friends and supply us with their great DH tires. The Team will race the tracks with the models High Roller 2, Minion DHR2, Minion DHF and Shorty, also in the tubeless-folding version.

We also got some fresh new partners in the Team. We are proud to sport the super stylisch Alpinestars designs on and off track. From the Race-Kit, Protection and casual Hoodie, we are all set with Alpinestars.

Another well-known brand is going to support us in this season. Oakley is up for junior sponsoring and supports us with their optics.

But what could we do without a proper reporting partner? Also, in 2018 we are happy to take all of you with us on our journeys by having MTB-News.de as premium partner. Look out, a lot of stories are coming up!

Together with all of our partners, we will be part of the entire European World Cup, selected GDC and EDC races and of course the RDC.

Let`s go 2018! Together we will give everything to make this season another victory for the SRAM Young Guns!
