What’s up everyone, I’m new here. I’ve been on VitalMX for the last 7-8 years but am about to get into MTB!
I want something that will give me the same challenge and rush as MX, and also will benefit me MX wise. Plus my girl wants me to get into MTB. So there’s that too lol.
Anyways, I’ll cut to the chase. I currently live on the eastern side of Virginia near Williamsburg but will be moving out near Massanutten in about 7-8 months.
I hit all the jumps on MX tracks so I’m not sure how much that will translate to MTB, but hopefully it does, cus hitting jumps on the MTB looks super fun.
Im looking at the YT bikes, specifically due to cost of entry and I don’t mind putting it together myself. Trying to stay around $2500.
My question is, do I get the Jeffsy All-Mountain? The Capra Enduro? Or the Downhill?
I want to do some downhill and hit jumps once I get comfortable, but how much of Massanutten, Wintergreen, Snowshoe is considered “downhill” to where it requires a downhill bike?
Thanks guys.
Let's take a step back. What's the scope of your interest in riding? Are you primarily going to just hit parks or places with lifts and shuttles or are going to want to hit trails? The western slope of massanutten is good trails. You don't need a DH bike for any of those places and since you're in the market for a single bike, a DH bike is just going to limit what you can and can't ride. I've seen plenty of people ripping mid-travel bikes like the jeffsy at those parks, you just lose out on some capability at mach jesus on the real chunky stuff. The more travel the heavier and shittier the bike is to pedal, so it really comes down to what you want from it.
