So FSA is selling these special bearings that comes with "magic" sauce inside them, price is not crazy in our hobby, however guess what, I already own two bearings that are perfectly fine. Aliexpress, here I come. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007148196927.html
Bought a 30g tub, enough for maybe 10 pairs of headset bearings. Removed seals from headsets bearings, cleaned some grease from them, filled them with some of the damping grease, almost to the top. Put the seals back. Reassembled the headset, tightened headset preload bolt to higher torque than normally (5nm). Voila, steering damper done, works as intended, feels great( not noticeable when steering, but filters vibrations from the front wheel very well). Grease is pain in the ass to work with, it's very similar to honey or glue, relatively think but sticky as hell- wear gloves or you will have fun trying to wash your hands (and everything else it gets onto).
Link doesn't work in the US but I am interested in your long-term experience. I have the FSA honey bearings, and they definitely work. I also have a tube of Nyogel damping grease and yep, is has the consistency and stickiness of tree sap, PITA to work with.
I hope this link should be useful as a guide for what the jar looks like, there is more sellers selling this one, cost for me was 7euros shipped I think. https://share.google/07bHHaKqZHgJsmSBY
