Hi all,

I recently picked up some Hayes dominion a4s. I have the shimano bleed kit and am curious if that works for the bleed or if you need the Hayes specific kit. Thanks!

No, Hayes requires syringe fittings that thread into the caliper and the lever. You MIGHT be able to do it w/ one syringe fitting but I don't know if the Shimano funnel threads will fit into the lever port.

Also Hayes uses DOT 5.1 and Shimano uses mineral oil so you'd need to fully flush everything before using (and again if you wanted to do a Shimano bleed).

You don't need Hayes-specific kit but you DO need the Hayes-specific syringe fittings.

Also consider that it's best to not use the same syringes and hoses for different types of brake fluids, as they will be contaminated. Also the different rubbers might not play well with different fuids. Bleed kits are cheap anyway, it's best to have one for DOT and one for mineral oil.
