I have a 2019 YT Tues that needs some love. My forks took a beating this year at the bike park (Snow Summit, Big Bear, California) and I was thinking about going with a 29" Fox 38s with 180 travel. My front currently has the Fox 40 with a 27.5" tire. So, my thought is going mullet will make up for the drop in the front end due to the fork change. Please, I would love to hear your thoughts on this as I am not sold on the idea but think the reduction in weight would be pretty cool when flying down the mountain 🤔🤙

Assuming your Fox 40 is a 27.5" model, the 180 mm 29" Fox 38 actually has a slightly greater axle-crown distance, so you won't have to worry about the front ride height being lower.
Edit: I guess Fox doesn't like direct linking so the images come out unreadable. The relevant pages on Fox's website:

For the 180 mm 29" 38 it's 594 mm and for the 27.5" 40 it's 586 mm (so in fact closer to the 170 mm 38)
