hello, just need some help with choosing tires.
i know i am going to get some maxxis tires but not sure which combination.
i am thinking minion dhf on the front and high roller 2 on the back

that combo is pretty solid for most trail riding, but we need to know what kind of riding you're doing, trail conditions/terrain etc to help you make the best choice.

oh sorry,
me and my brother are going to thredbo these holidays so it needs to be good for that. my local trails are quite dusty and rocky as well

Your combo, along with Minion DHF's front and rear, and DHF front // DHRII rear would all be great picks for dry dusty conditions. I personally just do DHF's front and rear. That way when the rear gets toasted, I move the front tire to the back and put a new DHF back on the front. Eeks a bit of extra life out of your tires.
