Hey everyone,
I just realized, that there are teams for a lot of sports at most universities. And also competitions and even whole series between different university teams. But not for MTBing. I think it would be an awesome chance to further develop the sport, give students the chance to compete in their sport and of course have a whole lot of fun if there would be an University DH or Enduro Series where teams from Universities race against each other. I would love to try and start one with the help of sponsors like Red Bull, but I'd like some feedback of other riders that study at different universities. Also I might need some help developing such a series. I'd love to hear your opinions on that and if you'd like to help we could get in contact. The idea is to start low in continental Europe (there are a lot of good destinations in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy etc.) and eventually expand it if it works out.
Thanks for the feedback.
Ride on.

Here in the US we have both university level teams and competitions as well as teams at the High School level.

In UK they have BUCS, it includes downhill and some other bicycle disciplines, but I am not sure which.

Yes. It's financed by the schools just like any other sport. Except that the bikes might need to be supplied by the athletes. I'd volunteer to build a bike or two for local use.

Collegiate cycling within the United States is governed by USAC. It's a large, well established program with mountain biking, road, cyclocross, and track races. Truly an awesome experience.
