I've been doing BMX for about 3 years now. I've always though about trying some MTB. But I have no idea whatsoever about it. All I know is i want a bike. It has to be the following;

Changable Gears.
Cheap. (under 700, might go up a tiny bit if its worth it)
Have at least suspension in the front.
And be able to jump. (trails of course.)
if you guys could help me find a bike it'd be much appreciated.

Best bet for a good bike like you described would be hit up the net buy and sells. I built mine for around 750 some new some use parts. If you plan to ride trails i would suggest looking into a single speed set up. I use to run gears on one of my Dirt jump bikes and it really sucks when you skip a tooth. Even with me running a sick E13 chain guide for the front the back would skip.
Also watch how the frame specs are. It makes a huge difference. Dirt jump MTB's that are worth getting run chain stays from 15.7 to 14.3. Top tubes all depend on your size If you ride a 20 to 20.5 a 21.5 to 22.5 would be good. Head angles should be 69 to 73 making them very snappy. Best Bikes I like are NS Bikes ,Dobermann and blackmarket. There are a ton of other companies but use these for a reference on frame specs.

What type of riding do you want to do? General trail riding with a few jumps along the way, or full out dirt jumps?

Check out a Norco Manik. You'll be able to do anything (within reason) on it and they shouldn't be too expensive
