In the world of dropper posts, bigger seems to be better. Some manufacturers have hopped on this idea and lowered their top tubes and seat tube heights while others haven't quite yet.

Has anyone found sizes for dropper posts and saddles listed anywhere? I'd be looking with the smallest collar to rail height and also saddles with the shortest stack height? Vital has a how to choose a dropper (link included below) but a lot of the measurements seem not to exist out there. (did a quick but not most thorough search)

I'm on a Large 2017 Yeti SB5.5. My turbine dropper (150mm) has been flawless for almost 2 years but it seems tall compared to others I've seen. My goal would be too run a 170mm dropper but that would be too tall if I bought a new dropper with the same measurements.

My post is currently about 10mm up from full insertion to get max pedaling out of it. When dropped sometimes it's difficult to maneuver around the seat. If I slam the seat post, maneuvering around the saddle isn't much of a problem.

My ultimate goal here is to gain around 10mm of clearance which should allow me to run a 170mm dropper.

For dropper posts, are few are listed below. You may also want to keep an eye on max insertion depth, I know this is something I ran into on my Patrol.

No idea on saddles though.

KS (225mm collar to rail @ 175mm travel)

Rock Shox (235mm collar to rail @ 170mm travel)

Hi!

our Dropper Post Face Off has the measurements you need, for 12 posts at least.

As the one who did this test (and a bunch of other droppers since), the good news is that there are several posts that offer the low collar-to-rail number you want. I'd say the test winner, BikeYoke, is a good candidate - 160mm travel and still a much lower collar-to-rail measurement. I'm also right now in the middle of testing the new OneUp Components dropper, which sits at 205 collar-to-rail for 170mm of travel, could also be a good option for you (it also has an internal spacer that can be cut to reduce the max travel in infinite increments - you could for example find that 167 would be the most you could get away with, you could then cut the spacer to achieve exactly this travel). For reference, your current post measured in at 212mm collar-to-rail (@150mm travel).

Hope that helps.
