2010 Boxxer Compression

So I decided to build a new DH bike and because my low bouget I decided to buy used frame and used fork. I'm not concerned about 2009 Kona Stinky, but 2010 Rock Shox Boxxer has a broken compression cartridge ( it's impossible to set low/high speed compression). Is that a big problem? Seller says that fork works nicely. For the info I'm coming from XC background and i have hard tail with 80 mm of front travel.

Yes, you should really have compression damping adjustment. It may have broken as set by him and rides well for him, but you are the one who has to ride it now. But don't fret. A cartridge should be available from Rock Shox and their forks are much easier to work on than a Fox. You can even download instructions with pictures last I checked.

Thanks, however after seeing him riding a bike I dnt feel comfortable buying it anymore. I have found another bike, its Kona Stab Deluxe 2010. i will post some parts of it when i get back home. Do you think that that is a good bike for someone who is just getting into sport?

if you're happy w/ the kona purchase, it should be a good bike for starting out in downhill. ride it, shred it, upgrade as you need. i think aggy was on a bike really similar to a 2010 stab deelux when he did this, so you should be fine : )

Yes, Im happy with it. I know some people think it isn't a good bike brand, however it's cheapest I can find in Croatia. But probably I won't be buying used bike because 1st bike has broken compression cartridge and as far as I seen it on Facebook, bike has been abused, 2nd bike also has broken compression, dents on place where fork bumpers should be. Because all of that Im probably going to build DJ bike, learn to do tricks, enter a competition and hopefully get sponsored.
