On the face of it this series is just about riding bikes in Whistler. However this series hopes to look beyond this and explore the motivations of people to radically alter their lives just to ride bikes as much as they can. We chose five people and used their particular experiences as a magnifying glass to be able to discover more about a few of the motivations for some people to make bikes their life.

Episode One of the SEASONAIRES series is here. In this first episode we find a prime example of the First Season Young Gun From UK species. Jack is nineteen years old and is from Guildford, UK. He graduated high school a year ago then worked endlessly in his local bike shop to afford to come to Whistler for three months of riding.

So you come for a season with a bunch of buddies and ride till you cough roost then head home once the summer ends, but what happens if you fall madly deeply in love with the place? Paul Stevens (or Paulo to his friends) was once the young first timer dirt bag like Jack Noy and co. whom we saw in the pervious episode, but he made the decision to stay in Canada

As we see in the third episode of Seasonaires, once riding gets in your blood then in pulses on and on. Emily started coming to Whistler many years ago when the Bike Park was in it’s infancy. For Emily, who was a dedicated downhill racer at the time, Whistler was a great place to come and ride because of the trails and the people there that helped push her riding.

It’s the days when I ride with Maxime Bruneau I struggle to figure out who is the worlds most stoked mountain biker. Is it Maxime or is it me because I was riding with Maxime? His enthusiasm is infectious and his friendly outgoing character has made him a hit amongst many many people who inhabit Whistler. His commitment to good times is demonstrated by the fact that he lived in a tent all summer in order to be able to ride everyday and save money. Living in a tent means the money saved will help him continue having fun when...

If you cut Jinya Nishiwaki in half he would bleed chain lube. This guy is devoted and passionate. He has moved all the way from Japan to be in Whistler riding his bike everyday. He rides up, down and around all trails, which demonstrates his commitment, all round riding skills and passion. Furthermore, he does it all on one bike. Simplicity, style and skill. That’s Jin.
