This crash resulted in a broken collarbone, rib, scapula and a collapsed lung. A lot can happen just by clipping a pedal....

Shops make squat on bikes. Service is the primary source of revenue with accessories, clothing etc pulling up the rear. I think shops have a very unique opportunity to become highly specialized with their service with a super wide range of parts in stock so they can fix your bike w.o having to wait a week for bearings or something...

i feel like the high end prices are justified (even if I don't like them). MTB products are one of the few things you buy knowing it'll be abused and probably neglected but we still expect it to perform flawlessly. I mean look at our bikes.. they're the definition of moving parts which we all know are the first things...
