Replying to myself as have just ended final tests. I've started bleed process with bite point screw fully open (counterclockwise) and was trying to move the oil between caliber and reservoir. At the same time I was limiting the pad distance by turning that screw clockwise. One turn before full stop I noticed thet I couldn't move the oil any...
Well discussion with Hayess seems to be pointless. " We can offer no details on adjusting those beyond that as we've no procedures on this outside of assembly." Nobody has played with those settings at the same time. Even having bite point screw full "-" makes bleeding impossible. Customer should just buy and not ask.
What I did Turned push-rod almost fully clockwise - as shown on this topic to eliminate dead stroke movement. Here I should be safe as only moving counterclockwise too much could move piston too much and block the timing port - this is my understanding and here is what I don't understand: Official Avid stream describes that user can play with...
Forwarding what I got from HAYES. "The internet is not correct here. In that, Dominion is setup at assembly with ZERO dead stroke - and you cannot adjust this to have less than none. Effectively you'll block the timing port and the brakes will not be able to be bled or function properly. The pistons advance as pads wear, all...
I have also turned push rod fully clockwise as advised here by "TheFBI" somewhere on page 12 of this post. This however eliminate lever dead throw but still ,system keeps the full flow. Where the situation changes (at least from what I experienced) I what also HexonJuan described couple posts later (6/16/2024 2:13pm). I wrote to Hayes asking if tightening...
I hope you’ll survive reading this post, but after two days of troubleshooting my Hayes Dominion brakes, I need to confirm this with you guys. I bought a brand new set of Dominion A4s. After shortening the hoses, I bled the brakes. I wanted to make absolutely sure there was no air trapped inside, so I adjusted the lever reach...
I strongly agree with this messy process. After having experience with Shimano and Sram Hayess seem to be the worst in terms of leaking oil during bleed process. Some do prefer vacuum way some syringe and finally people like me trying to mix both worlds ? Have You or anyone found a good guide being effective but alse as clean...
Eae903 jasbushey SilentG Gentlemen, I didn’t expect so much consensus on Formula. I admit that this setup wasn’t on my radar due to its relatively low popularity, actually very little popularity - wondering why?. I prefer the brake lever to sit relatively far from the handlebars, so that shouldn’t be an issue here. However, I’m curious about the braking power...
Awesome thread Plenty of valuable tips and tricks. I’ve battled with my Shimano XTR Trail brakes many times, but I’ve never managed to eliminate that spongy feel after the initial piston engagement. On top of that, I had the impression that air kept getting into the system, so I ended up bleeding them multiple times each season. I’m done with...
