I’m not sure what the motivation for the dealer would be to tell your friend that but they are actually amazing with warranty and crash replacement! Very helpful and they keep a stock of frames from past year to keep you rolling! He should reach out directly. While it might not be a warranty issue after he broke his frame they will do crash replacement at cost.
