I've seen a lot of long travel trail bikes (also known as "enduro") with the narrow/wide setup and no chainguide dropping the chain when it starts to get a little worn out. This would only get worse on an 8" bike. Also, if you ride "downhill" and don't see a reason to having a bashguard, then you and I have very different opinions on what downhilling is.

Most DH bikes have about a 13.5ish inch BB height. That sits about just above the rear axle on a 26inch wheel. This KHS is a 29er and it looks like the BB is sitting above the rear axle... So... its looks really high.
