harandre Started a new thread Wet/Winter suspension set-up
11/15/2017 5:17am I've been riding in winter conditions (wet, cold, snow) yesterday for the first time this year. I think my suspension might need a service anyway, but as the suspension felt super-slow I was wondering what are the general guidlines for a wet/winter set up? My thinking was the following compared to a base setting: Warm and wet make it softer...

harandre Added a reply to [Video] Rebound Speed vs Suspension Performance
2/3/2017 4:14am Thanks a lot for the carification. I have to say, I find it pretty pointless of RockShox to hold on to the wrong labeling, even explaining things in their product manual, as if it indeed was a beginning/ending stroke setting. When looking for this on the web, you see that there is just a lot of confusion, mainly caused by...

harandre Added a reply to [Video] Rebound Speed vs Suspension Performance
2/3/2017 1:43am Hi Andre, thanks as well for the very informative videos. I have one question concerning the difference of high/low speed vs. beginning/ending stroke rebound: In the video you talk about high/low speed, which makes sense, as you are talking about frequencies. However on the shocks I have owned and own (from the 5th element coil shock to the vivid air...

11/23/2015 11:00am @drewb: liteville has been advocating this scaled sizing thing, but I'm sceptical as different wheel sizes make it harder to push through turns, as the point at which you have to put pressure on the wheel is quite different, which makes riding through fast turns a little awkward. I also remember that about 10 years ago a lot of people...

11/23/2015 10:04am Just to clarify: 1) sspomer has been asking about the functionality of a 7" downhill oriented enduro 29er. The functionality might be there for specific types of trails, but it's somewhat questionable, if really necessary for most types of riding (like 99,9%). 2) AGR97, ralle and me (amongst a few others) pointing out that it might be better to keep...

harandre Added a reply to slack, long-travel, pedal-able 29ers?
11/22/2015 11:42am @AGR97: Sure, raising the handlebar helps with that, but at the same makes it harder to put pressure on the front wheel. ...and might require you to change your suspension settings, but you then might just stuff in a few tokens to solve that (see the pretty good blogpost Team Robot had on that issue). Point is, if you change...

11/22/2015 10:57am ...also the "in the bike feeling" that Steber refers to might be pretty valuable for rough and steep bits, because you don't get that "over the bars feeling" that we all know from back in the days. But it is just not as good if you ride flatter sections or trails with a lot of built berms, as your leverage...

11/22/2015 10:39am @sspomer: What I've been trying to say is, that if you ride Enduro in SoCal, such a bike might be top of the list, but maybe not, if you're riding Enduro in the Italian Alps. It wont be a very good allrounder, but perfect for fast and open trails. I think current 29ers are still a fair bit from "...

11/22/2015 9:15am Whether a tool is functional simply depends on the task you want it to be used for. Thus, depending on the trails such bikes could surely be functional; I probably would not want to ride it on an alpine goat path though. Also that's why I find questions about this or that type of bike, wheel diameter or bottom bracket...
harandre Added a reply to Another Procore Failure - Discuss
6/9/2015 12:12pm I get that the expectations on Procore were pretty high; also due to Schwalbes own claims about how it would eliminate pinch flats. But I also buy Schwalbe's comment that they had much less mechanicals this year (I counted two flats in Fort Bill's top 20 qualifiers). Remember how many of the top female riders had flats last year. While...
