It was soda blasted and rubbed down with a fine wet and dry grit

The shock length remains the same i2i bot the bolting of the shock is longer which extends the rear end to give the required clearance for 27.5

For the 27.5 you are using the offset bushings to lengthen the shock correct?

BB is a tad higher but overall it rides fantastic. I had used it with 26" and the offset bushings to slacken the bike and that was good. With the 27.5" conversion and angleset it's a whole new ball game. It's a monster going downhill but nimble on the climbs too. The rear chain stays are identical to the 650b alloy so clearance is good too

No drop outs needed. Using the offset bushings gave additional clearance at the back. I used a 1 degree angle headset to re adjust the head angle
