Feather Merchant Added a reply to 1 1/8 Angleset - Do you want it?

2/18/2011 2:07pm
Yes, in that it's a great idea for those with older frames. No, in that manufacturers shouldn't look upon it as an excuse to continue making frames with non-reinforced 1-1/8" head tubes. I understand from reading Dave Turner's explanation regarding Turner's recent switch to a larger diameter HT that it costs money to make the transition. But still, moving away...

I think this was the only fad to slip by me. I had a Salsa brake arch, flimsy seat covers to change the color of the saddle/protect it, 3" riser bars, front end that was about a mile higher than the saddle at full length. Super wide bars, super narrow bars. Anodized everything. Hole drilling. The ugliest fenders on the...

Just blows me away. I know some people are going to cry foul when I say this, but that is pure mountain biking in so many forms. Race or otherwise. Plain and simple. I'm glad to see the sport heading in that direction and popularity of these events, moving away from ho-hum XC or 'Super-D' events that focus only on fitness as opposed to fitness/technical bike handling skills. Beautiful.

That is fresh. At least he (or the photographer) took the time to make his crankarms and pedals line up parallel with the ground AND put the chain into an asthetically pleasing gear allowing the rear derailleur to ease off the bike at an angle that's not hard on the eyes. They only do that in the pro ranks-so take note when you kids take pictures of your clapped out Kona Stinky's leaning up against your older brother's primer gray Camero sitting out in the weeds next to your parents house. Just make certain the stickers on your rims and...

Is this Vital's answer to micro-fiction? I love the parameters, it's like the Hemmingway challenge to write a fictional piece in six words or less: For Sale; Baby shoes, never worn. Great film BTW.

Well if that's the real case, and not just e-heresay, then good on Weir for finding a new, and friendlier home. So long as he doesn't end up skinnier than Tinker it's all good.

I have to agree with Surfwax. It's like taking the cool, kinda punk kid that everyone is slightly affraid of. Who drives to High School in his slightly beatup, but kinda awesome primer black pickup truck that has become an integral part of his image and then taking that away from him and handing him the keys to a yellow Xterra with a vanity plate. Then to add insult to injury, his dad takes out an ad in the back of his senior yearbook with his picture and instead of it saying 'Here's a photo of our beloved son Mark...

It's pretty difficult to go in there over the Holidays as the showroom and walls are packed with bikes and frames right now. All that 2011 Giant goodness sitting around waiting to be taken back to a loving foster home.

Not really old, but due to the lack of responses here it might a little bit of obnoxious flavor (and it's filmed a bit retro in the Faster Pussycat style)

Those remind me of the old Thrasher Skate t-shirts we used to wear back in the '80's (if I remember correctly the original didn't have the Cons logo and said 'Prevent This Tragedy In Your Family'): Sorry, not bike related but still...

Most of the summer I ran a single ply 2.5 Minion EXO front converted tubeless and either a 2.35 UST HighRoller or a 2.2 UST Crossmark out back. At the beginning of the year I moved between a 2.5 and a 2.35 Intense 909 EXDC single ply up front, tubed. Tried to convert the 2.5 Intense to tubeless but it...

I don't know the answer to that question, but I would assume the opposite; That it is not a 'government' entity. Similarly to how the US Post Office is a private company and 'the Fed' is a clongomeration of banks who service the government by regulating certain aspects of the economy and setting policy. The point being that just because...

I just received this DVD from the UK (it is region specific BTW so if you don't have a fancy DVD player, you'll have to watch it on your computer). I don't know how to say this but, the film overall was a HUGE disappointment. Basically, all of the riding within the entire 117minutes is shown in the trailer besides the first 15 minute segment of an endurance racer riding XC and road, half of the time in the dark. The rest of the film is dialogue, not in the LifeCycles 'mountain bikes are going to save the world' genre...

I've lost complete confidence in USAC over the past few years. There are now fewer MTB races and almost zero nationals coming through town any longer and they have been shrinking every since NORBA left town. So from a financial perspective I'm getting less 'bang for my buck', or $60 to be exact, just in the number of events that...
