diatribe69 Added a reply to What Are YOU Most Picky About Regarding Setup?
2/27/2016 8:16am I'm very picky about the rise speed of my seatpost. I have exactly 23psi in my Command Post. Any more or any less and it drives me (my) nuts. Too fast and your balls get smacked off; too slow and that extra microsecond you're waiting for the post to appear under your tuckus on a big g-out and it's game...

2/24/2016 9:26am Yea, those seat stays look totally flimsy. The new Stumpjumpers have totally overbuilt stays, which is why they get away without using a bridge, and can accept super-large tires. And with the Horst link now in the public domain, don't know why bike makers are choosing NOT to defeat brake jack by not adopting it. It's FREE, no payment to the Big S needed.

diatribe69 Added a comment about feature MTB Bucket List - 6 Places Nate Riffle Says You Should Ride Once in Your Life
2/23/2016 9:10am What's "Mount Ewell" and "Graeeagle"? I've heard of Mount Elwell and Graeagle, but never these other places he mentions. Sounds like they're intentionally misspelled to thwart any lookey-loos.

2/21/2016 3:27pm I like how when only Specialized had access to Horst link, everyone hated it, claimed it sucked, etc. Now that their patents have expired, suddenly it's the best. Funny how that works. Although I do prefer it over VPP and DW-Link designs. To me, being active under braking is much more of an advantage than not bobbing (as much) while pedaling. You can counter pedal bob with a good shock, but you can't really get around brake jack without the Horst link. ABP almost gets there, but, hey, it's no Horst link!

1/31/2016 9:44am "Under heavy braking or acceleration we experienced no spoke windup or excessive flexing..." How do you isolate the feeling of spoke windup amidst all the other things going on? How do you know objectively that it's not tire sidewall flex; or flexy stays; or soft dirt; or any of the other 23 things it could be? Do you confirm this with lab tests or do we just have to take your word for it? I can say anything to sound cool at the trailhead, and, as lawyers know, you can't prove a negative. "I went over that rock and I...

I'm a cynic. I feel building a bike rack onto a motorcycle is just to get attention. There's no pragmatic reason to do doing so, only egocentricity. It's the same reason people get Jones Bikes. Completely useless, simply eye candy so that you spend more time bragging at the trailhead instead of riding. Might as well throw on a clown suit and hang out in front of a elementary school; that'll get you attention, too.

diatribe69 Added a comment about press release Pacenti's PDent Technology Makes Sub-30mm MTB Stems a Reality
4/22/2015 1:27pm Pretty sure this Pacenti guy has tons of solutions in his garage, then he makes it his life mission to seek out problems. His name is familiar with some recent wheel size movement, can't recall what it is. By the way, I've a friend who's really into something with this 31.42" wheel size he's been tinkering with...you guys should check it out. Really, it's pretty cool. It's much better than the 29er crap and way better than the 27.5" stuff. It just rolls over stuff so much better than those other inferior wheel sizes. Trust me on this. I am...

3/28/2015 9:12am Good to see the pros saving weight by not using the brake line clip on a Specialized FSR seat stay. Let the hose swing freely!

Awesome video, but technically speaking I am really getting sick of the zoom-in-then-fade-down-to-dirt filming technique prevalent in mountain bike videos. It's akin to the Swipe in every home movie ever made with iMovie.

diatribe69 Added a comment about product review Enduro
3/11/2015 2:09pm Reviewers need to tread carefully when they're broaching subjective topics. Knocking off a star because a mass-produced bike doesn't fit their Neanderthal physique isn't the manufacturer's fault. If these reviewers, who get bikes for free, were to get their bike at a reputable shop, they'd come out with a properly-fitting bike after a parts swap, which the dealer would for for free. Maybe all reviews should be done by a secret shopper at a real bike shop? On the flip side, it's a shame Specialized (and all other bike makers) can't ship bikes with 10 different bar widths in the...

3/10/2015 9:32am "The Enduro also retains its cable routing under the downtube, which is cause for concern and could result in a pinched cable or cut hydraulic line." How prevalent is this "problem"?

This is the equivalent of GM making a "Getting Wicked at Laguna Seca In A Dope-ass Oldsmobile Delta 88!" video.
