brysonbryson Added a comment about feature Sneak Peek: 2015 DVO Topaz Air Shock

If you come from the moto industry you'll know that shocks take a serious amount of abuse and should be service more than once every two years. IFPS are under more pressure than bladders and the o-ring will wear quickly allowing air or nitro to pass. Nothing is full proof, having routine maintenance is the key to keeping all products working longer and performing at 100%. The bladder system in the Jade can be changed out in minutes and will cost around $8 bucks. Can't beat that for ease of service.

When we laid out the design features for this shock many months ago, it's hard not to kinda look like the rest of the shocks out there. The rebound adjuster needs to be located in a certain location as does the eye lets, the air can, the body, are all gonna be laid out in the same configuration. The side mounted climbing lever which chokes the low speed compression circuit is easy to access when riding. We also have a specific external envelope we have to work in which is quite tight, if it looks like a monarch? Maybe a...

In the past 25 years being in the suspension game I've seen thousands of different designs. It's not really regurgitated ideas, but it's also not leaps and bounds in technology either. The best thing when it comes to shock designs is to have a solid design, without gimmicky adjustments, excellent quality internals, and he essential adjustments that are designed around today's leverage curves.

Most of our pro Enduro riders, especially Cedric Gracia wants a quick switch lever to reduce the "bob" during climbs. We are designing from a clean slate but also designing for a specific use and function. The Cane Creek is a good shock but not perfect, there will be some compromises in all designs but we are more focused at damping performance, durability, and ease of adjustment. We've never had issues with air leaking from the bladder into the oil chamber. I have 30 plus years working on moto shocks with bladders and haven't had many issues. We haven't decided...

We work closely with Vital to show them what we are working on, we are a month away from production and just waiting on parts to arrive from our suppliers. Production items typically feel much better than prototypes and there's a lot if pre orders for this fork so I'm sure you'll be seeing it soon. Until then you can always just turn the channel.

We have no idea how many NM the impact of getting kicked in balls by a donkey would be so we would only have to speculate. That would be categorized as an "impact" test which isn't shown in this video. What we showed is ultimate yield and cyclic fatigue which would equate to having a donkey slowly apply pressure to your midsection until you collapsed on the floor or having a donkey kick you repeatedly until you couldn't take it anymore. Hopefully that description helps.

Matt, we cannot give all the data to everyone but I can tell you we test to double EN DH standards. Unlike many other companies, we just wanted to show everyone that this fork went through very stringent laboratory testing and passed with flying colors. We also wanted to show everyone that we invested the time and money to develop a product that will hold up to the rigors of DH riding. Its very expensive to destroy 40+ forks, employ engineers, analyze data, revise materials, etc.

That's a great comment! Currently we are talking to quite a few OEM companies but our priority is to fill the aftermarket orders first! We are all in Taiwan overseeing the assembly now and products are shipping. Cheers, DVO

brysonbryson Added a comment about news story DVO Show Bike STOLEN from Las Vegas Tradeshow - Thieves SUCK!

For sure ultimately it's our fault without doubt. But, Interbike had us in the new outside paddock area with zero security around. There are hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of bikes around which can easily be taken. Most people who steal from Interbike generally enter with bogus credentials. For costs of attending the show, I'd expect a little more security because a lot of bikes get stolen during Interbike every year.

Might get flamed for this but... Damn this track looks terrible, not very interesting at all. A couple of roots in that one section, a man made rock garden, and some very awkward taped off lines that slow the riders way down. Doesn't look great.
