If you installed the brake line using the cast guides and put the plastic cable guide between them you probably wouldn't have ripped the screw out. I've had a set of Slants for over a year and the cable hasn't been an issue. I'd call that user error over a design issue. I do agree with the QR though. Using half turns is a bit of a pain.
