no, the plus tires are also for enhancing climbing traction. Not so much descent-oriented at all imho - go for a enduro or DH bike instead for that. I think the balloon tires too bouncy for speedy DH riding. More for very technical-trail oriented is what it is, for monster trucking rock gardens, loose rocks and wet roots with a lot of up and down.
