This is exactly what I do. I usually actually just leave it in descend mode even when I'm on my XC rides. The bike is the second best pedaling AM bike (only the GT AOS bikes pedal better) that I've tested (Which is pretty much all of them), so I just pedal in descend mode. Until I have a remote on my bar to switch modes, I wouldn't ever take it out of descend mode anyway.
I'd like to see one of these just on the debonair. Got one on my new devinci spartan and so far it's terrible. Can only setup one of the 3 positions to work right. Has the same problems everyone hated about the CTD fox shox. It is impossible to get all three modes to work well. I have to pedal in a too soft trail mode to get a comfortable descend mode. If i set up climb mode to feel good, descend mode is way too stiff
